Welcome to the Foreman Research Group!
We study life at the end of the Earth. How do bacteria survive in these icy environments? Does their survival change those environments? And, what does that mean for the rest of the world?
Our research explores these questions in the Arctic, the Antarctic and in our SubZero lab at Montana State University. We have active projects on bacteria, biofilms, carbon dynamics and deep ice cores.
We are funded by the National Science Foundation, NASA, and the Department of Energy. We use this support to publish breakthroughs, like our discovery that bacterial biofilms are important components of glacier systems.
Our lab group empowers young scientists and engineers, particularly women, through genuine, safe and inspiring experiences.
I hope you enjoy reading about our research and meeting our team. We’ll be adding more to this site soon.
Stay curious!
